In Lapland, a number of accommodation providing services such as hotels, motels, hostels, youth hostels, holiday villages and camping sites exist, but also smaller establishments such as cottages are widely available for booking.
There are around 7.500 registered rooms with approximately 20.000 registered beds in Lapland. The majority of accommodation is offered through private establishments and a considerable part of holiday accommodation remains unregistered, therefore are not included in these figures. It is estimated that the true number of beds is triple to that of the official figures.
Please, refer to our Crew & Services directory for more information on local accommodation operators.
In general, the quality standards are high. Due to the large variety of accommodation options, the level of how well equipped each accommodation option is, varies. Small cottages can be luxurious and even better equipped than hotel rooms. Please contact the establishment in question for further information.
Average price for a hotel room in Lapland is circa 80 euros per person. The rates are on the average slightly lower than in South Finland. The rates are higher during the high seasons (Public holidays in winter and spring when the Finns travel to Lapland to ski).
Tip: sometimes it is cheaper to rent a big cottage than booking separate hotel rooms for the crew!
